Dilate: hunt library parasite
GOAL: to design a small addition, insertion, or installation for hunt library that begins to transform (part of) the building and its program into a leading edge academic library that drives Carnegie Melon University and its campus into the future.
My parasite feeds off people’s energies to create different lighting and atmosphere for those specific people.
The outside is made of panels of these modules that open and close based on sound and change transparency based on heat.
The inside has sliding translucent walls that slide towards people based on the energy they are emitting.
Essentially, I am creating a “smart-library” in a sense that it reads what people are doing and reacts based on that.
It feeds off people's energy to play with light and color.
SOUND affects the opening and closing of the module.
HEAT affects transparency.
I even experimented with thermochromic pigment and created my own paint. Note how the paint becomes transparent as body heat is applied.
