The archway is created as a sustainable structure, aligning with that year’s Carnival theme “Planet Earth.” The materials can be re-purposed following deconstruction. Made up of wooden, three-axis modules, the rectangular arch welcomed alumni and friends back to campus while showcasing the School of Architecture's construction skills and innovative design work. The 16-foot-tall archway establishes a new presence for the School of Architecture at the annual event.
The project won an AIAS 2019 Special Accomplishment Award at the Toronto Conference, which is "the highest award bestowed upon an AIAS individual, chapter, program or event that has been unique and special and has helped lead tp the success of an AIAS Chapter.."
